    platform. It only compatible with the super $4,000.00 GTS model! Lol, Since it’s this expensive you may as well purchase a REAL pilates reformer for much less! Ridiculous this company can’t make this accessory available for other Total Gym models. Since pilates is something I love, my option is to junk my XLmodel I paid over a $1,000 and purchase a real reformer that does the job.

    The video does not make it clear how the black pin is prevented from snapping back into the stop hole. The black knob is a spring-loaded pin and not designed to lock in place once pulled out. The following steps will allow you to more easily fold and put away your unit. I do this every day to make space in my otherwise crowded exercise area. First, place yourself on the right side of the unit, where the black pin is located, and NOT the left side as shown in the video. This position places you in the best position to raise and fold the unit while working with the black pin. Second, place your left hand on the bottom support ahead of the slant board (in front of the hinge) and your right hand on the black pin. Third, as you pull the black pin towards you (dis-engaging it from the stop hole), use your left hand to slightly raise the unit at the middle hinge location. The adjustable vertical support will move forward as well. This will move the stop hole out of alignment with the black pin and prevent it from snapping back into the stop hole. Fourth, you can now release your hold on the black pin and use BOTH hands to raise and continue folding the unit, as shown in the video. I hope this helps.

    If anyone thinks that folding and unfolding one of these 14,000 models is difficult or would take too much time, notice that the video is only 2 minutes and 40 seconds long. And that includes the intro, Tom’s opening and closing remarks, and his explaining everything as he goes. The unit is 52” high while I believe Tom is only about 5’6” high. So it really is a very simple procedure! My 11,000 folds the same way.

By the way, both units are much better suited for tall people (those over 6’2”) than any of the infomercial or retail units ever made. In fact, if you look at the Huck Products website for Total Gym accessories, they consider these two units to be of commercial quality, which is very true. You can also see the Hybrid Resistance video about tall users for my comment about the dimensions of these units.

    Are you crunching your abs to raise the pad or lifting with your knees? Also when you are on your toes, are you using your toes to bring the pad up?

      you are definitely using your abs to lift the glideboard, but as with any Total Gym exercise the Core Trainer uses a multitude of muscles in synergy.

    i love my total gym. i tried to sell it a couple i'of times and so glad no one bought it. i have been using it now for 3-4 weeks only 1-2 x a week. i still have gotten results. i can't wait until i've been using it for 6 months. my goal is to lose 50 pounds. good luck everyone.

      Keep your pelvis tucked into your core. In the video, she doesnt do a great job keeping her pelvis tucked which can cause back pain during this movement.

    Do you have any recommendations for torn rotator cuff rehab on the total gym? I have recently had surgery for a 5cm tear which required a double graft repair, im currently undergoing physiotherapy but im hoping that i will be able to use my total gym again in some way in the future. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    My tips - wear thick leather gloves just to make sure to protect your fingers (just in case). I've had mine for so many years & try not to have to move it. Mine looks very much like this one. We bought it in the mid-90s. It's a tank & will probably last past the apocalypse.

    With this video, you have narrowed my chances of getting this machine. Wasn't sure if abs crunch can be done on it, including tightening inner thighs. I see that all can be done. I especially liked the exercise you showed for tightening back of the arms. I don't understand how we use our arms to do everything yet we always get this flab or softness on the upper arm. Thank you. I most likely will be purchasing this
